Some Explanation. And An Incredible Video.

This blog originally started as a music blog only. After 4+ years of such, I am now going to be posting on a few other topics as well. Rationalization: the blog name is “My iPod Thumb is Sore”. We now have iPod Touches, which can play music, movies, games, read books, and anything else you can possibly imagine. So your “iPod thumb” could technically become sore for any of those reasons or even others. And with that said, I would like to share an awesome video. Just to let you know, I have skateboarded for over ten years, and skateboarding films have always been a highlight for me.

It features some of the Lakai skateboard crew and is directed by Spike Jonze who has done countless music videos, Yeah Right, and most recently Where the Wild Things Are. This little skateboarding short is incredible. It’s like they are conquering the Devil by thrashing in Hell or something. Tell me what you think!

She and Him @ The Twilight Concert Series – Aug 26, 2010

To put it simply, this show rocked. Although past Twilight Concert Series shows have been a bit packed, this one wasn’t really bad at all. She and Him played a super long set, and the night was quite magical. A couple thoughts from the show:

-Zooey has a freaking ton of energy. She jumped up and down for like half of the show.

-M. Ward is one of the coolest people alive. Period.

-It’s cool that Zooey is the actual one that whistles, plays the mouth trumpet, etc.

-Hearing Rave On was a spectacular surprise.

Amazing Arcade Fire Music Video!

You’ve probably already heard about this video, but if not be sure to check it out right away! It’s for the song “We Used to Wait”, and employs HTML 5 technology to create one of the coolest videos ever. I mean it. CLICK HERE to check it out. (Just to let you know, it didn’t work on my iPad. It did work on my MacBook Pro running Safari a couple times, but then stopped and I had to download Chrome to play it again. It’s worth the hassle though.

New Sufjan Full Length Album!

Man this guy is an anomaly. The album art is above, and fyi ADZ is pronounced “odds”. Release date is October 12th. The good news? It’s Sufjan’s first “song-based” album since 2005 (or 2006 if you include Avalanche). The possibly disconcerting news? The description talks about this album trading in banjos for drum machines… Regardless of what primary instruments are used, it’s Sufjan so it more than likely will be brilliant. Weezer Planning Coolest Tour Ever?

According to AN INTERVIEW WITH RIVERS CUOMO, Weezer is looking to do an absolutely awesome tour. It would consist of two nights in each city, in which they would play the entire Blue Album the first night and Pinkerton the second night. Wow! I don’t think anything that Weezer has done has gotten me this excited for ages!

New Weezer Album + Single!

You are looking at the hilarious album cover for Weezer’s upcoming album Hurley. It comes out in a month. I still haven’t listened to Raditude for various reasons, but am actually quite excited for this new album. Why? because Weezer also has released “Memories”, a track which will be on the upcoming album. Honestly I really really like it. The sound returns quite a bit to Pinkerton days, albeit a bit less dark. It makes me happy that this album has more of a chance to be good then their last couple efforts. Man they just keep cranking out the jams.
