I have talked a little about the Mates of State cover album, which I have now had the privilege of listening to! Let me just say that that $5 for a super cool Mates of State cover album is a no-brainer. Just buy it already. It’s really neat of them to sell it for such a small amount of money, and I hope that they do really well with it’s sales. Price aside, this album is a blast to listen to.

The first four tracks hit me right away as songs that I recognize and love. Mates of State does an incredible job at capturing the essence of each song while at the same time adding their own spin to each one. Why listen to a cover when it is almost like the original? Mates of State gives each track their own special treatment, making them each a unique and fun experience – similar yet new.

Other standout tracks include 17 Pink Sugar Elephants, which features their little daughters Magnolia and June on vocals! So great!

Like I said, the album is only $5 directly from Mates of State’s website. For the price of a combo meal, you can treat yourself to 10 exceptionally crafted covers, beautifully recorded! Not to mention this is a husband and wife team with two kids, meaning that purchasing this album could help buy important kid-raising sort of stuff! Sounds like a deal to me!
